Happy Hour at Islands: An Affordable Temporary Retreat

Michael says “Yay!  We have a new feature and writer on South Bay Foodies!  Every Thursday we’ll feature a happy hour review or an inside look at new hot spots on our side of town.  Want to tell us about a cool local hang out? Let us know!  Now I’d like to introduce Courtney, our resident Happy Hour expert.

Islands-Manhattan-Beach-South-Bay-FoodiesIslands is a poplar burger joint that whisks you away on a temporary vacation. The tropical décor creates the allusion of an island retreat, allowing you to sip on cocktails and indulge in tasty grub in a serene and beachy environment. You can order your patty prepared to your liking in the form of meat, turkey, veggie, or chicken, and choose to get it sandwiched between a white or whole wheat bun. The toppings are endless, and whether you like your sandwich smothered with guacamole and cheese, topped with bacon and sautéed mushrooms, or surrounded by pineapple and teriyaki sauce, you are sure to find a combination to satisfy your taste buds and current cravings. This island-inspired restaurant serves up more than just burgers, and the expandable menu includes tacos, salads, appetizers, and desserts, along with a section of healthy options (650 calories and less) for the vacationers who are watching their bikini bodies.

Be sure to try their famous fries that are engulfed with melted cheese and chives, their chicken tortilla soup, and their delectable Kona pie. And no tropical escape would be complete without a fruity cocktail, and therefore there are a plethora of freshly blended beverages and margaritas, along with non-alcoholic refreshments, like smoothies and cola lime ice, to enhance your island experience. And guess what, depending on what time you visit Islands, your vacation package could include half price appetizers, discounted cocktails ($1 off beer, booze, and wine), and free chips and salsa. You can ride this happy hour wave every Monday-Friday from 4pm-7pm , and get splashed with deals and flavor!

It’s time to embark on an affordable vacation and travel to Islands—discounts, adventure, and delicious food and drinks await you!

  1. Well I’m Happy that Courtney is the Happy woman!! And from the looks of this place, it seems to be a fine fake alternative to a real tropical destination for people who are broke and can’t get a real trip. (uh. but not me. I’ve got wads of cash. uh huh. umm. yeah.)

  2. I love all of Court’s articles on Examiner.com! She’s got great taste in locations & always offers tons of helpful info on the best places to get the cheapest drink & food specials!

  3. @YumYucky – Maybe i should start a side business selling vacations to a restaurant: “You said you wanted a trip to an ‘Island’, right?”

    @Lauren – Yes, I agree!

  4. Mmm – cheese and chives fries! Not sure how that will help the vacationers maintain their bikini bodies, but it will certainly give them a weight-loss goal when they get back home after their trips :-). And plenty of delectable taste memories to boot! An affordable vacation indeed.
