Spring Break Offers Last Chance For Off-Season Deals to Catalina Island

Southern California is beaming with the onset of Spring.  Now’s the perfect time to ditch the notion of Spring Cleaning and head to Catalina Island before off-season deals come to an end.

There are two things that I absolutely love about this Mediterranean island.  First, its close enough to get to in an hour or so; Second, once you get there, it feels like its a million miles away from Los Angeles.

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to enjoy some time on Catalina Island during the off-season as a guest of the Catalina Island Conservancy.  Follow this link to learn about my island tour that combined volunteering with tourism.

During that trip, I learned of a deal offered by the Hotel Villa Portofino and Catalina Express.  From now until April 14 — just enough time for a quick spring break! — island visitors can book a package for about $1oo per person that includes a room at the Portofino, round trip transportation from Long Beach via Catalina Express high-speed catamaran, and round trip taxi transfers.

Since the package is only available Sunday through Thursday, I’d suggest a Sunday day trip with a relaxing evening on the beach followed by a lazy midday return on Monday.  You’ll get back just in time to skip work!

  2. If you’re coming from Atlanta, just start heading West and make sure you turn left in Albuquerque! haha! 🙂

  3. Catalina is one of the greatest places in the world. Everyone who has the opportunity to go, needs to take advantage of it. Spring is the best too, with the hills all green!
