This Weekend! Spooky Good Fun for a South Bay Halloween

The fall and winter Holiday Season kicks off this weekend with citywide Halloween and Harvest Festival celebrations. There’s more going on thatn the typical family can do but that’s a good thing. With events going on from Friday to Monday, there’s something for everyone!

Here are a few of the things the South Bay Foodies have planned. Maybe we’ll see you there. If you’re wearing a mask, maybe we won’t! Whatever the case, we want treats and not tricks.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Extravaganza at South Bay Pavilion, Carson

South Bay Pavilion kicks off this fun-filled weekend with a pumpkin carving contest on Saturday. Bring you’re A-Game though; first prize is $150! The party continues on Sunday with face painting and trick or treating in the mall starting at 3 PM.

Halloween Extravaganza Flash Mob

I hope I can grow my curl out in time!

You might want to break out your Jerhi Curl and zipper jacket for the finale. At 4 PM on Sunday, they’re having a Thriller Flash Mob! I can’t wait to see those ghouls and goblins swaying back and forth Thriller style! Follow the link below for the flyer with all the details or follow this link to the Facebook page.

Halloween Hullabaloo at Adventureplex, Manhattan Beach

How do you entertain costume-clad kids rearing to get out and trick-or-treat? Kick off the afternoon at AdventurePlex at the Halloween Hullabaloo! Your kids can show off their costumes while playing carnival style games, running through the inflatable obstacle course, and romping in the five-level play structure, all while you relax with the free WI-FI and a snack from the Courtside Café. Hot dogs are just $1 too.

Harvest Festival at Love and Unity Christian Fellowship, Compton

Here’s an event for folks that want to do something outside of the typical tricking and treating. This outdoor event will feature food, games, and family friendly entertainment.

Annual Halloween Trick or Treat at Riviera Village, Redondo Beach

Catalina Ave. will be closed to traffic from Ave. I to Palos Verdes Blvd. Shops along the way will hand out candy and treats between from 3 to 7 pm.

This is a traditional event in one of the most quaint and picturesque corners of the South Bay. There are lots of shops and restaurants to check out before and after the kiddie stuff so bring your appetite and check book. If there is a restaurant you have in mind, call ahead and make a reservation!

3rd Annual Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk, Hermosa and Manhattan Beach

The South Bay’s own Skechers shoe company hosts this annual event to support education and kids with special needs. This will be the third time thousands of friends, families and businesses have joined forces to support the Skechers Foundation.

Starting in Manhattan Beach, the walk follows The Strand down to Hermosa Beach and wraps back to the Manhattan Beach pier. Along the way there’s plenty of fun and entertainment to keep walkers motivated.

If you’re not walking (you can register here), there’s still plenty of time to donate; follow this link to do that.

After the walk, make sure you hang around for the pumpkin races!

21st Annual World Famous Pumpkin Race Festival, Manhattan Beach

This full blown riot is a huge party that’s all about family fun. On the surface, it might look like people rolling pumpkins down a hill. But it’s so much more than that!

Handcrafted Pumpkin Racecars racing side-by-side in unpredictable and dramatic style! Families and friends race for fun and the coveted Championship Trophy. Prizes are awarded for Best of Show, Best Team Spirit, and Best Crash. Check out these photos and videos photos and videos and see why.

Racers all over the South Bay have been tweaking their pumpkin-mobiles for weeks in anticipation of this event. If you want to join in the fun, get to the races early; kits may be on sale just before the event.

Racing pumpkins; It might be the next great American sport!

There will be a food court and plenty of fun and games for the entire family. Just make sure you watch out for the Cheater Cheater Pumpkin Eater!

And Even More!

My list is far from complete. Here are a couple other resources to tap into for Halloween fun.
