Each week I enjoy reading the L.A. Beer Blast, a newsletter produced by our friends at Food GPS. It’s a summary of what’s new in craft beer around Los Angeles. One of the features of the LA Beer Blast I really like is the “Craft Beer Pro of the Week”.
With the South Bay beer scene growing at such a fast pace, its no surprise that many of the beer pros being featured in the LA Beer Blast are brewers and chefs from our own neighborhoods and local establishments.
This week, Executive Chef Anne Conness is the featured beer pro. Not only does she oversee the menus at Tin Roof Bistro and Simmzy’s in Manhattan Beach and Long Beach, she recently became a Certified Cicerone, meaning she’s a true expert in all things beer.
In the interview, which you can find on Food GPS, Chef Conness discusses how her experience as a chef helped her with the Cicerone test and why she’s excited about craft beer in the South Bay.
