Sunday Supper and Cocktails at Circa, Manhattan Beach

With many choices for high end dining in South Bay, picking a place to eat can be tough.  Even after you’ve decided where to go, picking the courses can be another dilemma.

These choices are so much easier when you can just go somewhere and say “Bring me a plate of what the chef is cooking” because you know the food will be good, regardless of what it is.

Sunday Supper at Circa does just that.

Each Sunday from 5 to 9 PM, Circa is serving a three-course, family style menu with items selected and prepared by the chef.  Adults are priced at $28 and kids 12 and under are reasonably priced at just $6 each.

On a recent visit, we sampled a Greek salad for the first course, roasted salmon for the entrée, and a chocolate brownie for dessert (follow this link to the June 23, 2013 menu for details).

The Sunday Supper menu changes each week based on what’s in season and the chef’s preference.  You can find the menu in advance on line if its posted.  If not, call ahead to see what the chef will be serving.  You could always just show up and be surprised.  Regardless of what’s on the menu its bound to be good!

Cocktails to Boot

Dinner wouldn’t be complete without a refreshing beverage to go with it and Circa has that covered too.

Recently, Open table included Circa on their list of the Top Ten Vibrant Bar Scenes in Los Angeles.  Restaurants are included on the list as selected by Open Table diners.

While there is plenty to choose from on the cocktail menu, my recommendations are the Richard Pryor and the Penicillin.

The Richard Pryor is made with El Dorado 5 yr Rum and Smoked Coke.  The blend makes for a sweet and smoky experience, almost like “drinking” a cigar laced with molasses.

The Penicillin combines scotch, ginger liquer, lemon juice, and honey for a refreshingly strong drink with a soft side.  Even light weights will enjoy a dose of this medicine.

Penicillin is the perfect medicine!
