Doma Kitchen in South Redondo Becomes the Latest to Receive Blue Zones Designation

doma_signThe Blue Zones initiative is about building communities and creating environments where public policies provide people with healthy opportunities. This includes workplaces, grocery stores, restaurants and schools.

On Dec 12, Doma Kitchen became the latest restaurant to be recognized as a Blue Zones designated restaurant and to celebrate they had a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Holiday lights adorned the exterior of Doma Kitchen making it a festive place to visit. Owners Stan Mayzalis and Angie Corrente warmly greeted the guests as they entered. A huge canopy in their patio was added since I last visited. Since seating is exclusively outdoors, this was a smart move to make for the winter months.

Executive Chef Kristina Miksyte prepared a number of light appetizers. In addition, her homemade hot chocolate was served. The hot chocolate was rich and thick. Miksyte revealed that she used chocolate chips and peppermint to make it. If you find it at their restaurant, I highly recommend it.

Lauren Nakano, Director, Blue Zones Project at Beach Cities Health District, was present to welcome everyone.  She thanked everyone for attending and supporting the event and expressed her appreciation to Doma Kitchen for becoming the latest restaurant to be added to the list of Blue Zones designated restaurants.
