A Postcard From Bite at the Beach

I gotta give credit to the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce. They really know how to put on a party! Bite at the Beach, their celebration of South Bay food and beverages, took place last weekend and delivered everything as promised: An extraordinary event filled with delicious bites and craft beer.

What I really enjoyed about Bite at the Beach was the big and small of it. I’ve been to festivals that are so huge and packed with people finding joy in the event can be tough. On the other hand, I’ve been to events that are hyped to begin with but in reality they underwhelm.

Bite at the Beach hit the sweet spot of “just big enough”. The back lot at the MBS Media Campus was the perfect size for what felt more like a block party than a food festival.

It was also a great way to sample from some of the most popular restaurants and breweries in the South Bay all in one place. MB Post, Tin Roof Bistro, Doma Kitchen, and many more were there along with The Dudes Brewing, El Segundo Brewing Company, and Monkish to name a few.

South Bay restaurants were paired with local and national craft brewers. The banners on each tent let attendees know who was serving and who was pouring!

I thought it was a great idea to have the restaurants teamed up with a brewery in each tent. Many of the food+beer pairings were spot on and it was interesting to see how they came together.

Its also important to note that the event was a party for a cause. A portion of the events proceeds are to be donated to the Surfrider Foundation whose goal is to help communities protect and enjoy their oceans and beaches.

Looking back, Bite at the Beach was a great way to close out Spring and step into Summer with a new list of restaurants and beers to try.

Here’s a look back at some of the People, Food, and Beverages from Bite at the Beach.
