Celebrating Dad on Father’s Day

The South Bay Foodies have combed the South Bay and have provided a list of interesting ways to celebrate Dad on his special day.

“Who’s Your Daddy” Pig Roast and Beer Garden at Shade Hotel

This Father’s Day, the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach invites Dads to ‘Pig Out’ at its first “Who’s Your Daddy” Pig Roast and Beer Garden. The feast, prepared by Executive Chef Chris Garasic, will feature a Whole Spit Roasted Apple Cider Brined Yorkshire Hog, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken habanero sausages and traditional sides including BBQ Black Beans, Chipotle Mac n’ Cheese, Jalapeno Potato Au Gratin and Grilled Creamed Corn.

In addition, a variety of locally crafted beers will be available from the El Segundo Brewing Co. The event will also offer a kid’s craft table where kids can spend their creativity making a special gift for their dad.

Roulez le bon Temps at Ragin Cajun

The Ragin Cajun Cafe will feature a 3 course pre-fixe meal consisting of a cup of gumbo or their Bayou Bisque. Diners can select between a salmon entree or a Cajun surf & turf dinner. A choice of dessert is also included for the low price of $25.00!  Diners can add a pint of draft beer for $5; any bottle of wine is ½ off!

Hot Chicken Eating Challenge at King Harbor Brewing Company

Howlin’ Ray’s, the brand new food truck specializing in Nashville style hot chicken, is looking for a few brave contestants to enter their first ‘Hot Chicken Eating Challenge’ at King Harbor Brewing Company. The only rule during this challenge is simply to finish the chicken the fastest without any beverages. The winner will be rewarded with a growler of their choice from King Harbor Brewing Company along with some cool swag.

The event begins at noon with the competition starting promptly at 1:30pm. For those who can’t handle such heat but simply love amazing chicken, Howlin’ Ray’s will be serving their full menu all day until they run out; so get there early.

Howlin’ Ray’s is looking for 4-6 brave contestants. If you think you have what it takes, please email matt@localitela.com

Battleship Brews ‘N’ BBQ

Big Butter Jazz Band returns to the Iowa with live music and DJ Daddy Scotty is spinning all day. Craft beer and full bar with food by Johnny Rockets. $18 for adults and $10 for youths. Dads pay the youth price!
