Sausal Opens in El Segundo on Tuesday, 9/8

z_sausalQuality restaurant dining in the South Bay continues its upward trend. The latest entrant is Sausal on Main Street in El Segundo. It is scheduled to open on Main Street this Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Chef and Partner Anne Connes (Tin Roof Bistro and Simzy’s) describes the restaurant’s style as “nuevo rancho”. “Sausal” is derived from the name Rancho Sausal Redondo, which in the early 1800’s covered the greater part of what is now the South Bay.

Sausal defines “nuevo rancho” as the cuisine that marries elevated comfort food with the bold, earthy flavors of traditional Mexican fare through a Southern California sensibility. Their menu will feature dishes prepared on wood-fire and smoke. An example of this is their Chicken & Charred Tomato Tinga with crushed avocado, pickled onions, sour cream and cilantro.

Libations will also match this distinctive cuisine. Sausal’s scratch cocktails will include market-driven ingredients, housemade syrups and infusions and small batch spirits. Cocktails will range from a Prickly Pear Caipirinha to more classic drinks such as a 2nd City Manhattan with bourbon, vermouth, mole bitters and Luxardo cherry.

Wine varietals from California, Latin America and Spain will be featured. Craft beer drinkers will also benefit from having hand-selected beers by Conness as well as a neighboring El Segundo’s Brewing’s IPA of the Day.

Sasual will be open nightly for dinner with lunch and brunch coming soon. Guests can make reservations or walk-in during hours of service: 4:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 4:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
