Who says a delicious meal has to cost a fortune? Definitely not South Bay Foodies. We strive on finding the finest meals regardless of the price. From happy hours to a great deal, there’s nothing wrong with cheap eats.

These days going out to eat can be a wallet thumper for families.  Unless you’re scraping by on the dollar menu at some place, you’ll most likely be shelling out $20-$50 for a family of four depending on where you eat.  Of course, thrifty folks have been bucking the system for years.  They go out to eat, take their family along, and never pay a dime for Jr and Big Sis.  How?  They find ways to make sure their kids eat free.

As I was checking my Facebook updates today before heading out for a late lunch, I was glad to come across a message from Tracy T. : “Baja Fresh – free burrito w/ drink purchase – today only!”  Sold!

For a year now, Hermosa Beach has been the home of authentic, hand-crafted Italian Gelato.  And what better way to celebrate that than by eating more gelato!  Join the folks at Paciugo this Thursday, July 9, to celebrate their first anniversary.  Each vistor that stops by between 4 and 7 PM will be treated to a piccolo cup of gelato.  Read this entry for more info.

Its no shocker to you, I’m sure, that breakfast is a meal fit for any time of day.  The foods that we reserve for the first meal of the day are equally satisfying at lunch, dinner, and all the meals in between.  Denny’s, a popular diner known for their breakfast, makes for a great dinner stop.  Recently, I tried a new “breakfast” item on their menu for dinner: Pancake Puppies.

Imagine, walking through your grocery store and, just as you past the produce section, a quaint little patio restaurant pops out of nowhere.  It has an open kitchen with a charbroiler, a bar and tables facing a ceiling mounted flat screen TV, and a menu featuring burgers, salads, and BBQ combo plates.  That’s Bill’s Grill!

I always enjoy visiting Daily Grill, particularly for happy hour.  The food is great, the price is right, and the service is what you’d expect for a higher end, sit-down restaurant.  While dinner is a little bit more expensive, the entrée selections are great; I’m a big fan of their rib combos!  So how can something so good get even better?  FREE DESSERT!

I hate cooking? Well, not really. Some days, it might feel like that but those days are few and far between. Mostly, its a matter of convenience or busy-ness. Other days its because the fridge is full, but not full enough of any one or two things to pull a meal together.

To show appreciation for their loyal customers (and maybe pull in some new ones!), Ben and Jerry’s is once again offering a free cone.  Today(April 21, 2009) from noon to 8 PM, customers can try something new or one of their old favorites.
