Gardena

Located on the eastern edge of the South Bay, Gardena is easily accessible from the 405, 105, 110 and 91 freeways. All the more reason to come in search of Japanese ramen, Korean barbecue, and a host of other Asian dishes.

For the past couple months, Target stores in the South Bay have been shuffling stock from one part of the store to another, only to move it back a couple days later.  What’s all the fuss about?  They’re making room for groceries.

I was running errands near Nijiya Market and decided to run in for lunch.  Something light is always good for running around so I grabbed a bottle of jasmine tea and a California roll.  I was in for two big surprises.

A few weeks ago, I had some great Asian inspired chow at the Japanese Cultural Center’s annual festival in Gardena.  Not only was it a great opportunity to get some great eats, the venue was only a short bike ride away!

Today for lunch I was hungry but my cravings were at opposite ends. I was starving so I wanted something heavy and beefy, like a burger or a steak. But it was hot too (80+ degrees in January!?) and I wanted something cool and light like a salad or sushi. Lady Bug Asian Grill came to my rescue!

Its the day after Christmas and the last thing I should be doing is eating a doughnut.  This torture was brought on by my own design, though; I stuffed my daughter’s stocking with a gift certificate for a 12 pack from Krispy Kreme.  My daughter Katia, AKA Lil Bit, can’t drive, so I knew it’d be up to me to facilitate the transaction.  Funny how things worked out like that.
