One of my favorite annual events is the LA Street Food Fest. It’s an open air event held annually at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena featuring many of LA’s most popular culinary offerings in one location.
For this year’s festival, nearly a hundred food and beverage vendors were on hand to provide sample offerings. As you would expect, quite a number of gourmet food trucks attended as well. The reason I like this event so much is because there are a number of pop-up vendors too. We also spotting a few South Bay restaurants including ROK Sushi and Doma Kitchen.
Here’s a gallery what my wife and I sampled as well as some highlights from the event:
Aguachiles from Coni Seafood
Ceviche from Coni Seafood
Pulled pork tacos from Dia de los Puercos
The line at Street Foods Co
Applying the cream sauce to the tempura fish tacos
Tempura fish taco & blue crab quesadilla
Octavio and Shannon Olivas were on hand to serve ceviche
Peruvian scallops with Santa Barbara uni on the half shell
Mariscos el Mazateño serving up crunchy octopus & spicy shrimp tacos
El Condor’s tinga tostadas
Angel City Brewery served their pilsner and IPA offerings

Two of Doma Kitchen’s signature items: kale salad and simmered plov
Badmaash’s chicken tikka marsala

Short Order’s Pulled pork with slaw
Brand new truck – Roadhouse Rotisserie

In August, Portland based Salt and Straw will open an ice cream shop in Larchmont.
Vanilla ice cream with sea salt and caramel
Saffron and Rose was on hand to serve Persian style ice cream
Poppyseed, chew seed, wheat noodles, sour cherry with lemon juice
What were my favorites? I enjoyed many of the items that I sampled. Two standouts for me was the Peruvian ceviche from the Ceviche Project and the ice cream from Salt and Straw.
A notable absence from this line-up of goodness is the churro borough. I didn’t have enough patience to wait through that line. Here’s an image of last year’s churro borough.
