First Thursday in Hermosa Beach
Hermosa Beach is likely the epicenter for South Bay Cindo de Mayo celebrations. With a high density of restaurants, bars, and clubs, there’s something for everyone. And with Cinco joining forces with HB First Thursday, this year’s party is sure to be one to remember. Check this Facebook page for details!
Pancho’s Restaurant in Manhattan Beach
The party started at Noon over at Pancho’s! They’re celebrating with Mariachis, the Laker Girls, live music, and Fox Sports Radio. You’re invited! More details on their website.
San Pedro 1st Thursday Artwalk
Here’s another monthly celebration that is rubbing against Cinco de Mayo in a fantastic way. Bars and restaurants in San Pedro will be open to celebrate the bay city’s art scene by tossing a few back for the Mexicans. Live music and shows abound. Check their web for additional info. At Williams’ Book Store tonight author Fred Sottile will sign and discuss his book, “National Pastime” from 7-9 p.m.,
Free Docent Led Artwalk Tour: The May Artwalk tour is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This months tour includes a wide range of art from local and visiting artists. Imaginative ceramics, expressionist figure painting, and abstract oils are represented. The one hour free tour will leave from the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, 390 W. 7th Street, at 6:30 p.m.
Studio 345 artists Pat Woolley and Gloria Lee will be showing a variety of their own acrylics and watercolors. Mostly non objective works by Gloria and French village scenes watercolors by Pat, who lives part time in Provence. Pat is also illustrator of 2 award winning children’s books The Thrift Store Bears.
Annie Appel Photography is introducing Photographer Amy Chambers exhibition “Afterglow.” The images are beautiful, colorful, and summerlike. The artist is self taught and doing very original work. For years she has used the very basic adjustments available at photo printer kiosks at a local drugstore. The tour’s third stop is still being selected.
Each month the Artwalk tour starts at 6:30, meeting at the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce, 390 W. 7th Street, and follows a different itinerary. Following the one hour tour, visitors have an opportunity to see other galleries, shop, eat and enjoy the music and ambiance that fill the streets on First Thursday.
