Restaurant Week Preview: Cheese Sauce and Chocolate in Torrance

DineLA’s Winter Restaurant Week starts on Sunday, January 23.  In preparation for the event, we’re taking a look at the menus and deals at the participating restaurants around the South Bay.

Today we’re checking out the two entries for Torrance: The Melting Pot and El Torito Grill.  Come back tomorrow for the last stop on our review: San Pedro and the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

The Melting Pot is serving up all kinds of cheesy goodness for lunch ($22) and dinner ($34) during Restaurant Week.  If you’re out in Pasadena, that location is participating too.

Lunch entrees are small plates with the Lobster Quesadilla sounding really interesting.  At dinner the Signature Selection is the clear choice with a little bit of everything: “Filet mignon, white shrimp, teriyaki-marinated sirloin, breast of chicken and fresh fish”.  The dinner option includes fresh veggies and sauces.

Of course, the best part of dining fondue style is dessert!  Choose your chocolate — milk, dark, or white – and then dip away with fresh fruits and Rice Krispies Treats.

At the time that I’m writing this, the Restaurant Week menu for El Torito has not been posted.

Their regular menu has a nice mix of Mexican classics (tacos, enchiladas, and burritos) so I’m confident that area will be well represented for Restaurant Week.

I’m hopeful, though, that some of their mesquite grill entrees will find their way onto the menu too.  Their chipotle barbecue ribs are great and at $20 a good deal on a regular day.

I’ll try to update as their menu becomes available.
