Growing Great’s 5th Annual Healthy Living Festival 2011

This Sunday, Growing Great celebrates gardening and good nutrition at the 5th Annual Healthy Living Festival in Manhattan Beach.

Growing Great is a non-profit outfit staffed by volunteers.  Their mission is to “inspire children and adults to adopt healthy eating habits through innovative classroom nutrition lessons, school gardens, and community events”.

This Sunday, the venue for their message will be like a party with more than 65 exhibitors joining them at the Metlox plaza in downtown Manhattan Beach.

This free event will feature food samples, fitness demonstrations, and activities for the kids.  Last year’s participants included several Manhattan Beach restaurants and the samples were amazing!

Chefs from Fresh Brother’s Pizza, Shade Hotel and Sashi were there last time serving up samples of their cuisine. I’m glad to see that they’re back along with some new additions including Hot’s Kitchen, a new gastropub located in Hermosa Beach.

With my own little South Bay Foodies coming up through the local school systems, I can appreciate all that Growing Great does for the kids.  Their lessons on gardening and nutrition are helpful in getting my crumb snatchers to eat right.

Please come out and support this great organization and their mission to get us all “growing great”!

  1. I told you I like to grow my own veggies,
Seeing the fesh healthy things grow is fun!
But seeing Peter Rabbit in there changes my plans.
Since he’s so cute, I’ll put up a fence and put down the gun!
